Does you need support with type 1 or 2 diabetes?

Diabetes Smart, a Healthy Wirral Initiative, is a free course to support our patients living with type 1 and 2 diabetes. It’s facilitated by trained professionals and is an opportunity for people to learn about making positive lifestyle changes and managing diabetes.

Diabetes Smart is designed to help patients:

• think smart – think differently about their diagnosis
• act smart – make informed choices (healthy eating, physical activity, self-care)
• live smart – manage their diabetes daily

How it’s delivered

The course is an opportunity for people to learn how to make positive lifestyle changes and manage their condition. It includes a core session and several practical sessions for people to get involved with.

Course sessions include:

• healthy lifestyle
• carbohydrate awareness
• reading and understanding food labels
• keeping well with diabetes
• physical activity
